About the Designer
Millicent Lai first joined Shanghai Tang in 2001. Her role as Chief Designer of Home showcases her talent for creating, designing and developing products across a wide array of categories and disciplines. Lai oversees the Home products division for over 40 Shanghai Tang stores worldwide. She was instrumental in the interior and furniture design of The Shanghai Tang Café in Xintiandi, Shanghai.
“It was exciting to take on this brief and apply our design aesthetic to a Nespresso machine for the first time. The challenge was to preserve both distinct brand DNAs, while creating something new and beautiful that would appeal to customers. I feel that both brands have been ramped up a notch with our unique collaboration.”
